We have recently heard that we have been successful in an application for a grant to work, in conjunction
with the local Youth Theatre, to help young people explore the dangers of street crime.

We are, and always have been, a separate organisation that works in liaison with the police, but we are NOT
the police. Police funding has decreased in recent years, and it is no secret that you will rarely see police
walking our streets.
We therefore endeavour to keep the laws of the land and work alongside them.
We also come under the umbrella of the Nation Neighbourhood Watch association, who publish regular local
news items through emails, entitled 'In the Know'.
'In The Know' is the free messaging service brought to you by Lancashire Police supported by Lancashire Fire
and Rescue Service and Lancashire County Council, where you decide when and how you are kept informed
about the issues that matter to you.

Our local police team some years ago in Towneley park giving advice about crime prevention.
They were there again just after Christmas 2023, offering free identification
marking for bicycles.

One of the first things we did, using grant money, was to purchase 2 local Notice Boards (top of Coleshill
Avenue and Wycoller park) to disseminate information to residents who do not have access to the internet,
and to casual passers-by.
This can be about Crime Prevention, Health issues, Fire Prevention, local events or even a lost pet.
We fight crime in very practical ways, by keeping in touch with each other via our Facebook page and via WhatsApp.
